[Human Capital] Why Listen? Correct approach to Communication

Why
listen?

After a long conversation with my friend I realized that
we both had failed to

communicate our ideas to each other.

When I introspected about the course of conversation I
realized that we both were eager to talk & we failed to listen.

Each one of us wanted to convey our point, without trying
to understand what the other wanted to say.

Most of our conversations fail because we concentrate
developing persuasive skills.

Instead disciplined listening & probing, results in a
productive conversation that renders solutions.

Most of us concentrate on cultivating    persuasive skills & the ability to
present our ideas & views.

This is an incorrect approach.

In fact listening is the basis of  communication
and decision making.
